If you have acne-prone skin, you must be suffering from an impaired skin barrier and dehydration. \u201cMany acne treatments such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid<\/a> and retinoids work by exfoliating the skin. Redness and irritation are often concerns for people with acne. This acid has anti-inflammatory, wound healing and skin repair properties, according to research published in Biomolecules<\/a> in 2021. \u201cInflammation plays a key role in acne formation, and by reducing it, this acid can help create a calmer skin environment that is less prone to breakouts,\u201d says the expert.<\/p>\n

3. Helps to absorb other ingredients<\/h3>\n

You can use hyaluronic acid for acne treatment<\/a>, as it enhances the effectiveness of other ingredients. \u201cWhen your skin is properly hydrated, it can better absorb active ingredients like retinoids and salicylic acid.
